Coaching a class

Run the class from your phone: the roster and check-in, the board on the TV, and everyone's scores.

iPhone Android Web Coaches Front desk Owners and admins

Your staff tools

Coaches, front desk, admins and owners are athletes too, so the app works for you as it does for members. Your staff tools sit on top:

  • Today: Classes today lists the day's classes. Tap one to open its class screen.
  • Profile › My gym: a dark staff panel with your gym and role, and tiles for Schedule, Members, Whiteboard, Highlights, Chat, Challenges, Programming and Screens.
  • The web: your gym's name in the sidebar opens its dashboard, with every staff page under it.

What you see depends on your role:

RoleCan
CoachProgramming, the schedule and check-in, the class board and scores, the whiteboard, Highlights, chat, challenges, members (to read), reports. Never sees money.
Front deskAll of that except editing programming, plus adding and inviting members, approvals, selling memberships, invoices and payments, sales and announcements.
AdminEverything, including settings, staff, class types, plans, documents and pairing screens. Not the gym's card payments, deleting the gym or changing an owner.
OwnerEverything.

The class screen

Tap a class on Today (or in Schedule) to open it. At the top: the day, time, coach and room, and how many are booked, checked in and on the waitlist. Then:

Class board
Each of the day's pieces, with Start on board and Scores. See below.
Roster
Everyone booked, with Check in (and Undo) for each. More has Mark no-show, Cancel place, Late cancel, Cancel, no penalty and Spirit points.
Add member
Search for someone and Book them or Check in now. When the class is full, Book anyway goes over the limit.
Cancel this class
With an optional reason. Everyone booked gets a notice. Restore class undoes it.
Analyze
What everyone booked has done with today's movements. See Analyze class.

Check-in and the kiosk

Members can check themselves in from Today shortly before class. You can check them in from the roster, from Schedule on the web (Check in, Undo check-in, No-show), or let them do it at a kiosk.

The check-in kiosk is a tablet or screen at the door: members tap their class, then their name, and a member who didn't book can type their name and check in as a walk-in if there's room. Open it from Schedule › Kiosk on the web, or pair a screen as a kiosk so it needs no staff sign-in (see Screens).

Running a piece on the board

The class board is the gym's TV. It shows the day's whole workout, with the clock. When you start a piece, it switches to that piece and a tile for each athlete.

  1. On the class screen, tap Start on board beside the piece. If another piece is live, it asks before replacing it.
  2. The board counts down ten seconds, then starts the clock.
  3. Athletes start their own watches; nobody's watch starts on its own. Athletes running CrossAdapt on their watch show their round and, if they share it, heart rate on their tile.
  4. Pause, Resume and End are on the class screen while the piece is live.

As scores come in, from watches or from you, they appear on the athletes' tiles. You can also run the board from Profile › My gym › Screens; see Running screens from the phone.

Scoring athletes

For anyone without a watch, or to correct one, score them yourself. Scores go straight into each athlete's own log, onto their tile on the board, and onto the whiteboard, and the athlete gets a notice.

  1. On the class screen, tap Scores beside the piece. Live scores shows a tile for each athlete, with tabs for the day's pieces.
  2. For a timed piece, choose the clock: CrossAdapt clock takes times from the board's running clock; Gym clock means you type times from your own timer.
  3. Tap an athlete's tile. The entry panel docks underneath: type the score, or for a lift mark each set Made, Missed or Not done. Set Rx, Rx+ or Scaled, and Capped if they hit the cap.
  4. Tap Record. The panel moves on to the next score. Undo takes back the last one; Skip moves past an athlete.
  5. When everyone's done, tap Finish. The footer shows how many have finished and how many scores are unsaved.

Details opens an athlete's full log for anything the panel doesn't cover, such as swaps or notes. Loads can be typed in kg or lb. Members who haven't signed up yet can be scored too; their results wait on their gym record until they join.

The whiteboard

The staff whiteboard shows every result on the day's workout, including members who hide theirs from other members. On the web, Whiteboard has Refresh, the division chips, and shortcuts to Analyze class and the Class board.

Analyze class

Before class, see what the people booked have done with the day's movements: a card per member showing when they last did each movement, their reps and their 1RM. Use it to plan scaling and loads before anyone walks in.

Open it with Analyze on the class screen, Analyze class on a class in the web's Schedule, or from the Whiteboard.
