Logging a result

Score each piece the way it was scored: a time, rounds and reps, a load for each set, calories, distance.

iPhone Apple Watch Android Web Athletes

Start a log

If Apple Watch ran the workout, the watch saves the score as you finish, and it's already in your log when you open the phone. Everything below is for logging by hand, or correcting what the watch saved.

Open the log from any of these:

  • Today: Log score on the piece, or Edit log once it's logged.
  • Piece details: Log score at the bottom.
  • History: open a day, then the piece, then Log this piece or Edit this piece.
  • The web: Log on the piece in Today, or Log result at the top.

The log opens with the score first, because that's what you came to enter. Everything else is optional. Tap Save when you're done; it stays pinned at the bottom.

Entering the score

The score fields match how the piece is scored, so you only see what applies:

Scored byWhat you enter
TimeMinutes and seconds.
Rounds and repsFull rounds, then the extra reps. An ascending AMRAP adds them up for you (“84 total reps”).
Reps, calories, points, distanceThe one number.
Each round for timeA time per round. Add round and Remove last change the count. On a clock, mark a round Capped and say how many reps short.
Tabata and intervalsReps for each interval. It scores the total or the lowest interval, whichever the piece asks for.
A liftA row per set: the weight, lbs or kg, and Made, Missed or Partial. The sets are the score.
Build to a rep maxSet after set at the same reps, as many as you took. The heaviest made set is the score and goes into your records.
Max repsReps for each set. They add up to the score.
DoneNothing. Finishing it is the score.

When a coach writes a workout in plain words and nobody has confirmed its structure yet, the log asks for whatever the coach said to log (a time, rounds and reps, a load with made or missed, metres or feet) once per entry they asked for.

Clock-ended pieces

On an AMRAP, or a for-time piece that hit the cap, there's no rep counting during the workout. The watch asks at the end how far you got, in the movement's own unit: reps, calories, metres, feet or seconds.

Rx, Rx+ or Scaled

Under Performed, choose Rx, Rx+ or Scaled. CrossAdapt picks one for you from what you used (a lighter load or a swapped movement means Scaled) and says so: “Set from what you used. Tap to change it.”

Scaled asks What changed? Tick any that apply: Load, Volume, Movement swap, Range of motion, Time domain, Modified prescription. That puts you in the right column on the whiteboard, and a benchmark record is only compared with attempts at the same level.

What you used

What you used opens the workout's movements, filled in from the prescription. Change anything you did differently; a load or box height that differs from the prescription is flagged so it's easy to check.

Swap
Do a different movement. The list starts with As written, then Easier options from the movement's scaling ladder, then Related movements, then the whole catalogue. Search, or type a movement that isn't there. A swap carries on to the later sets too.
Edit
Change the reps (including how you broke them up, like 7-7-7), load, distance, time or calories for that movement, then Update.
Not done
Leave a movement out (on the web).

When Performed is Scaled you can also Copy or Delete a row, and Add set or Add movement, to log exactly what you did. A swapped movement records against its own records, not the one you swapped out.

Lifts don't have this section: the sets you entered already say what you used.

Didn't finish, or didn't do it

Didn't finish
For a timed piece, choose Hit the cap or Stopped early, then the reps done and the round you reached. For a lift, sets you didn't get to can be marked Not done.
Didn't do this piece
Marks it Not done, with an optional note on why. It counts as skipped in your week's analysis. Log it after all undoes it.

Effort, notes, test day and date

Open More for the rest:

RPE
How hard it felt, 1 to 10.
Notes
Anything you want to remember next time.
Test day
Mark a deliberate max or benchmark attempt.
Date
Log it on the day you actually did it.
Body weight
Your weight that day (iPhone).

After you save

Your result goes to your History, your charts and records, and, if you belong to a gym and show on its leaderboard, the gym's whiteboard.

On the iPhone, a new PR, a first, an achievement or a level-up gets its own card, with Share to make a story image of it. The first time you log a skill like a bar muscle-up, it asks whether it's really your first: Yes, my first!, Not my first or Not now.

If your coach scores you during class, the score goes straight into your log, and you get a notice. You can open and correct it like any other result.

If a save fails, the log stays open and says “Nothing was lost.” Fix the connection and tap Save again.

Changing or deleting a result

  1. Open the result: Edit log on Today, or from History.
  2. Change anything and tap Save.
  3. To remove it entirely, tap Delete this log at the bottom and confirm.

Beyond the Whiteboard and SugarWOD

If you've connected your Beyond the Whiteboard or SugarWOD account on the iPhone (Connections), a logged piece that came from there shows Send to BTWB or Send to SugarWOD under its result. Tap it to send the score back. Once it's there, the row says In BTWB or In SugarWOD. On the web, the log has Submit to BTWB beside Save.
